E/O Test Engineer

Job Summary

Intevac is seeking a self-motivated and energetic team player to fill an E/O Test Engineering position in the Santa Clara Photonics facility. Multi-disciplinary skills spanning photocathodes, optics, solid-state physics and electronics will be beneficial to this position. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing / managing electrical and optical tests on vacuum image intensifiers, CIS wafers, CIS die, III-V die, imaging sensor modules and finished cameras. Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for the development, coding, debugging and documentation of new test procedures as well as the development and fabrication of new test hardware. Other responsibilities include sensor failure analysis, calibration, maintenance, and repair of Intevac’s test equipment.

Primary Job Duties

  • Responsible for the characterization of CIS devices and the establishment of specifications to insure products are suitable for their intended use
  • Responsible for developing / managing semiconductor wafer, die, sensor, and camera testing
  • Maintain test equipment and instrument calibrations, identify and purchase spare parts, and write equipment preventive maintenance (PM) procedures
  • Design, program, document and debug new test procedures
  • Perform root cause failure analysis on die, sensors that fail to meet specifications
  • Manage data collection, analysis, and presentation
  • Manage data archive on internal servers
  • Maintain and update documents related to operation of test systems
  • Interact with device engineering, customers and development to improve test implementation, improve image sensor performance, and meet test requirements

Secondary Job Duties

  • Audit manufacturing processes as required to determine sensor failure probable root cause
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • MS / PhD in physics, engineering, optics, or closely related field
  • BS with 5+ years sensor characterization experience also considered
  • Programming in MATLAB, Octave or similar software, C++, C#
  • Experience in characterization and test of optoelectronic devices
  • Strong practical knowledge of optics and imaging devices
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • US citizenship
  • Must be capable of achieving Secret level clearanc
