HW/SW Development Manager
Position Overview
Seeking a leader for managing the development of new digital camera systems employing image intensifier and FLIR technology. The candidate should have a strong software development and embedded systems background with extensive experience implementing imagers and detectors. We are seeking a team-oriented, self-driven individual with a keen technical mind and an eye for detail. The Intevac Photonics Division is comprised of engineers who have a detailed understanding of hardware engineering and systems with embedded software. We operate in a fast-paced, highly technical R&D environment. You will be expected to explore new technologies and product concepts, create new products, enhance our current product lines, and stay abreast of new technologies and techniques.
Primary Job Duties
- Lead multiple concurrent development projects including project planning and budgeting, multidiscipline resource management.
- Provide architecture leadership, including embedded platform hardware/firmware partitioning, image datapath processing, analog channel design and sensor implementation
- Coordinate the activities of the entire project team comprised of hardware, firmware, application software and optical engineering resources as well as internal and external resources
- Contribute to development activities of software and hardware development
- Define the scope and identify the goals, objectives, requirements, and limitations of the project
- Manage the needs and expectations of the various project stakeholders
- Plan, execute, and control the project tasks, phases, and deliverables
- Work with customers on specifications and system design
Essential Knowledge and Skills
- 10+ years professional work experience leading product development projects
- A fundamental understanding of how to design and characterize optical/electrical/mechanical systems and cameras for high performance and high quality production.
- A strong proficiency or aptitude in analysis tools such as Matlab
- Strong programming skills, ideally including LabView, Matlab, and C/C++
- Experience with embedded systems and FPGAs
- Leadership presence with an ability to obtain results in a dynamic organization; effective management-by-influence skills
- Prior work for a product manufacturing company
Minimum Requirements
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
- US Citizenship required.
