Government Business Development Manager - Washington DC

Position Overview

The Chemical & Biological (ChemBio) Business Development Manager will be responsible for actively developing and closing contract R&D and program opportunities with government agencies and defense systems contractors.  The Business development Manager must be able to identify and qualify Chembio Threat Detection program opportunities where DeltaNu's handheld Raman instruments fit the technical requirements and who can influence the key decision makers at all organization levels.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and close sales of Intevac Photonic ‘s DeltaNu's Raman spectroscopy equipment to government agencies and defense systems integrators.
  • Activities include lead generation, account qualification, closing business, product demonstrations in conjunction with DeltaNu's scientific and engineering teams, pre and post sales support requirements as needed by the customer.
  • Provide accurate forecasts of bookings and sales revenue in the current quarter along with longer range forecasting over one to three years.
  • Maintain comprehensive understanding of competition in the ChemBio Threat Detection market segment and formulate strategies on how to succeed.
  • Identify and develop a list of key agencies and defense contractors along with strategic and tactical business plans which will act as a roadmap to success.
  • Prepare, deliver, and close quotations and RFPs.
  • This is a customer facing role which will require developing strong working relationships with top management levels at prospects; demonstrated success in using a strategic sales process will be required.

Minimum Requirements          

  • BS/MS degree in biochemistry, chemistry or chemical engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of successful sales experience in the Defense & Government ChemBio Threat detection US and international markets.
  • Demonstrated skills in developing long term customer relationships.
  • Proven ability to qualify real sales opportunities is required using strategic selling processes
  • Proven ability to meet and exceed quarterly and annual sales quotas.
  • Comfortable with engaging and working with executive level program management, engineering, technology, scientific, manufacturing, business development within customer organizations.
  • Successful track record in selling chemical & biological sensing & analysis products is required, together with knowledge and understanding of Raman spectroscopy.
  • Ability to comprehend and match customer's product technical specifications to DeltaNu's handheld Raman product offerings.
  • Confident, highly motivated, creative, team player that has the ability to work and produce results working in a remote office.
  • Extensive travel at times and must be based in DC or Maryland.
  • US citizenship is mandatory and current Top Secret clearance is a plus.
  • Outstanding verbal and presentation skills.
