EBAPS Digital Image Intensifier Module

EBAPSThe EBAPS 3010 module incorporates an SXGA (1280 x 1024 pixels) electron bombarded CMOS sensor, high voltage power supply, and low voltage power supply, all potted into connected housing for reliability and environmental ruggedness. Intevac’s core sensor technology, the Electron Bombarded Active Pixel Sensor (EBAPS®), is based on the use of a III-V semiconductor photocathode in proximity focus with a high resolution, backside-thinned, CMOS chip anode. The electrons emitted by the photocathode are directly injected in the electron bombarded mode into the CMOS anode, where the electrons are collected, amplified and read out to produce digital video directly out of the sensor. The EBAPS sensor achieves state-of-the-art night vision performance in a smaller, lighter and lower cost package by eliminating the complex components associated with traditional image intensifier assemblies. The “plug and play” digital image intensifier module was specifically designed for integration into imaging systems such as head/helmet-mounted displays, rifle sights and small electro-optical/infrared surveillance gimbals. The module can be produced in variety of configurations, with or without Intevac-supplied video processing electronics, to facilitate integration into a wide range of compact imaging systems.
