Intevac has developed a low cost targeting/surveillance sensor suite for man-portable or vehicle-mounted use. The LIVAR® 4000 system integrates low power infrared and LIVAR technologies for use in target detection and identification beyond 3 kilometers.
The portable LIVAR 4000 system incorporates the Short Wave Infrared (SWIR), thermo-electric cooled, gated imaging 640 x 480 camera and an eye-safe laser illuminator. The system is operated by a laptop computer and has features such as far target location, range finding, auto focus and laser beam divergence control.
The LIVAR 4000 system incorporates a multifunction CMOS silicon imaging sensor into an electron bombarded imager package for further power, cost and size reduction. The laser rangefinder receiver has been bundled into a single LIVAR module, while simultaneously reducing the power for the unit. This is expected to further aid designers in the retrofit of LIVAR into ground vehicle applications, as well as for broader portable and ground system applications.
