SANTA CLARA, Calif. — BUSINESS WIRE — July 28, 2005
Intevac, Inc. (Company) (Nasdaq:IVAC) announced receipt of the Most Innovative Product Award at the fifth annual Soldier Technology Conference in Brussels, Belgium, for their extreme low-light EBAPS(R) sensor.
A distinguished panel, including the program managers for soldier modernization programs in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, The Netherlands and Norway, were among the judges. The judging criteria for the award were based on products that reduce weight, bulk and power consumption; provide increased situational awareness; and reduce collateral damage.
Intevac's patented EBAPS sensor is an extreme low-light digital sensor designed for use in next-generation head-mounted night-vision systems. Its compact size, light weight, and low power consumption are well suited for use in soldier-mounted systems. Digital output enables sensor fusion, symbology overlay, and image processing, all of which contribute to situational awareness. The EBAPS sensor is also targeted at commercial applications such as industrial and scientific cameras. Verle Aebi, president of Intevac's photonics technology division, remarked: "We are pleased with the recognition our sensors received from the Soldier Technology panel. We have spent a number of years developing our EBAPS sensor technology, are now working on our first production program for military deployment, and are excited about delivering sensors that will make a real difference to soldiers in the field."
