Intevac, Inc. (Company) (Nasdaq:IVAC) today announced that it has filed a patent infringement lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Central District of California against Unaxis USA, Inc. and its affiliates Unaxis Balzers AG and Unaxis Balzers, Ltd.
Intevac's lawsuit against Unaxis asserts infringement by Unaxis of United States Patent 6,919,001 that relates to Intevac's 200 Lean(R) magnetic media sputtering equipment. Intevac's complaint seeks monetary damages and an injunction that bars Unaxis from making, using, offering to sell, or selling in the United States, or importing into the United States the allegedly infringing product. Intevac Chief Executive Kevin Fairbairn stated: "We believe in strongly competing in the marketplace based on the innovation, performance, reliability and support of our products. However, we cannot allow the valuable intellectual property we have established through our long-term investment in research and development to be unfairly used by those who would infringe our patent."
