Intevac Inc. Names Dr. Michael Barnes Chief Technical Officer; In Move to Further Strengthen Equipment Development Capabilities

Intevac, Inc. (Company) (Nasdaq:IVAC) named Dr. Michael Barnes to the new position of Chief Technical Officer, Equipment Products, in a move to strengthen the Company's development capabilities.

Dr. Barnes started his career at IBM where he worked on the development of etch technology. He subsequently spent over 10 years at Lam Research and Applied Materials where he led the development of new etch and chemical vapor deposition products. These products today generate billions of dollars in revenues. Most recently Dr. Barnes was general manager of the High Density Plasma Chemical Vapor Deposition Business Unit at Novellus Systems. He is an inventor on over 50 patents. Dr. Barnes received his Ph.D., M.S. and B.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from The University of Michigan.
